GROWTH IN THE NUMBER OF NETFLIX SUBSCRIBERS IN Q2 IS THE SMALLEST IN HISTORY
In April-June 2021, Netflix Inc., the world's largest streaming video-by-subscription service, had the smallest net increase in user history in its history but exceeded both the company's forecast and analysts' expectations.
During the reporting period, the number of subscribers to the company's services increased by 1.54 million - to 209.2 million. At the end of April, Netflix assumed that the increase will be 1 million. Experts polled by FactSet, on average, predicted an increase of 1.15 million.
In the third quarter, Netflix is forecasting a 3.5 million increase in the number of users, while analysts are forecasting an increase of 5.5 million.
Netflix's April-June net income was $ 1.353 billion, or $ 2.97 per share, up from $ 720 million, or $ 1.59 per share, in the same period last year. Revenue increased by 19.4% and reached $ 7.342 billion against $ 6.148 billion.
Analysts on average predicted the company's net profit of $ 3.18 billion on revenue of $ 7.32 billion.
